About
I’m a software engineer working for a large telecoms and ICT services company (disclaimer) and have been since I graduated from Bath University in 1998.
Outside of work I should try to do more: badminton, tennis, cycling, skiing (it’s not through lack of desire that I don’t, I live in the UK in Suffolk, part of an area also known as “The Flat Lands”), spend more time abroad in mountains whether they are covered in snow or not (I hesitate to say traveling - that may imply I enjoy spending my time stuck in airports and on planes), photography (you can see some of my attempts on my photo website) and of course “socializing”. I should probably also spend some time trying to improve my spelling and grammar.
This blog is a written collection of my thoughts and ideas (restricted to a technology theme for now although I do think about other things, honest) so if nothing else I can recall them at a later date. Now whether anybody else finds the content useful is open to question.
It also serves a second purpose, an ongoing reminder to me of how hard and time consuming it is to write to try and accurately communicate thoughts and ideas just in case there was any risk of me forgetting how painful and unproductive the waterfall approach of upfront design and comprehensive written documentation was.
